Smile! Stop Hate Crime are encouraging organisations in the community to get involved with their free ‘Safe Places’ scheme.

The ‘Safe Places scheme’ helps people with learning difficulties to be in a safe environment when they are in distress. Whether they are lost, frightened, being bullied or threatened Safe Places allows them to call someone close to them or the police depending on how severe the case is.

Currently there has been interest from Bestwood Estate Community Centre, Henry Mellish Sports Centre, Bulwell Healthy Living Centre, Crabtree Community Centre and Snapewood Community Centre.

For more information or to sign up, contact Denise Hickman (pictured) at denisehickman@n-mencap.org or visit www.nottinghammencap.org.uk.
