Employee profile

Ben Buxton

Commercial Director

Ben has been with Right Track Social Enterprise for 10 years.

Before Right Track Ben was a Rugby player finishing his long professional career playing for Nottingham after 5 years at Leicester Tigers who he joined from school and during his time at the Tigers was selected for the England U21 team.

Finishing his professional career was really difficult, this had been his life since leaving school and now with two young children and no job was in the dark hole of depression and had serious doubts about ever finding a job, Ben had left school with no GCSE’s and felt held back by his lack of English and Maths skills and at that time had no formal qualifications other than GCSE PE.

Ben had through his Rugby Career experience of helping young people and had worked part time as a Social Inclusion Coach in Birmingham as this felt like giving back and making a difference.

A chance encounter with Right Track Social Enterprise Ben took a role part time working with children at risk of disengaging fully from school keeping them engaged in learning through sport, over the next six months Ben worked hard and achieved his Functional Skills and PTTL’s.

Ben went on to becoming a manager, leading the NEET team to achieve the highest outcomes in Nottinghamshire. Ben has continued his new career working up to becoming a Director. In Ben’s own words ‘Looking back at the time I spent unemployed and so depressed some days I did not get out of bed I am so grateful to everyone at Right Track Social Enterprise for their hard work and the way they believed in me and the potential I had. That is why it is so important to me to support as many people as possible through our funding and help those who maybe have no belief in themselves but when they are supported will thrive and start to see a real value in themselves.
